EYFS

"Good parenting and high quality teaching and learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up"

(Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage)

Welcome to our EYFS page!

We have a nursery class and a reception class but we work as a unit and have lots of fun together sharing our classroom both indoors and outdoors.
The reception class teacher is Miss Ormerod and the reception class teaching assistant is Mrs Garrett.

Our nursery leader is Mrs Duckworth (Monday - Thursday) and Mrs Breakell on Friday. The nursery teaching assistant is Mrs Mell.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework which is a play based approach to learning and development, enabling children to develop in all areas.  We plan creative and practical activities that support the children's interests, which enables them to build confidence, explore, problem solve, relate to their peers and  develop independence. We have lots of fun in the Early Years!

There are seven areas of learning and development: within the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework:

Prime Areas

Communication and Language

Physical Development

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Specific Areas

Literacy

Mathematics

Understanding the World

Expressive Arts and Design

As a Catholic school we also teach RE

Our aim is for both you and your child to have a happy and confident beginning to an exciting learning journey with us. Together we can guide your child through this important year and lay the firm foundations for their school education.

Apps and Websites

We communicate through Class Dojo. You can access our school story which is updated with information and notices. You can access your child's class story for class information and notices. You can message your child's class teacher and also view your child's house points.

We use an app called Tapestry to record observations which include pictures or videos and comments about your child's learning during either focused activities of while in provision. We encourage you to like and comment on posts to show your engagement and to also submit regular home learning and home reading.

We teach phonics daily using Floppy's Phonics. You can access an extra practice zone at home. Use this link to find a huge library of ebooks and  resources to support reading at home. https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk (Please ask your child's class teacher for a reminder of their class login details)

Outdoor Learning

We love learning outdoors in all weathers. We have wet weather gear including wellies in school but you can bring your own if you prefer.

We love exploring using our senses in the outdoor kitchen. We add different natural seasonal objects at different times of the year such as conkers, leaves, blossom petals, twigs ect. It can get very messy!

The children helped to create a water wall for our outdoor area.
