Phonics

We are using the Read, Write Inc. (RWI) scheme for phonics and children will have focused sounds each week that will build up over the weeks. Children will be learning the correct letter formation for writing and this will be something that children will continue to use as they move through school. Reading books will be sent home in the next few weeks and children will have one book per week that links to the sound they are working on. It is imperative that they read this book at home, aiming for 5 nights a week, re-reading the text until it is changed. Reading records are to be filled in each day the book is read. More support will be sent home for this.
