Who's the SENDCo?

Mrs Carly Cook is the school's SENDCo. She is able to discuss any concerns you many have regarding your child's development. 

If your child currently attends our school and you are concerned about your child's development, you may contact Mrs Cook via email c.cook@st-wulstans.lancs.sch.uk 

If your child does not yet attend school and you would like to learn more about how we can support your child, please contact the school office: 01253 874785. Mrs Cook will be happy to meet with you. 

Our Inclusion Team at school consists of:

All members of the Inclusion Team are able to refer into a variety of services to support your child's educational needs, mental health needs as well as family support needs.

Depending on the needs of your child or family, you may be signposted to other members of the Inclusion Team to receive the most appropriate support. 

If your child suffers from a medical condition or allergy, a medical care plan meeting is needed. Mrs Cook is responsible for ensuring that children have their medical and allergy needs met whilst children are at school.

Allergy Safety and Benedict's Law

St Wulstan’s & St Edmund’s Catholic Academy is committed to meeting the requirements of Benedict’s Law, introduced through the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Act 2026, and the Department for Education’s statutory guidance on Allergy Safety in Schools.

We recognise our responsibility to take a whole-school approach to allergy management, protecting pupils, staff and visitors with known or suspected allergies.

We will maintain a dedicated allergy safety policy; ensure all staff receive appropriate allergy awareness and emergency response training; maintain up-to-date Individual Healthcare Plans and allergy action plans where required; ensure appropriate emergency medication and arrangements are in place, including spare adrenaline auto-injectors in accordance with applicable requirements; take reasonable steps to minimise exposure to allergens; and respond promptly to suspected allergic reactions.

All allergy-related incidents and near misses will be recorded, reviewed and used to inform improvements to our procedures. We will promote an inclusive environment in which pupils with allergies can participate safely in lessons, school meals, trips and extracurricular activities without unnecessary exclusion. This policy will be communicated to staff, parents and relevant members of the school community and reviewed regularly to ensure continued compliance with applicable legislation and statutory guidance.
